Using these guidelines can help you select an energy healer right for you.

Have you thought of seeking out an energy healer to help heal something in you that is amiss? We know that an imbalance or blockage in our energy fields can manifest as mental, physical, emotional, and /or spiritual disturbances. Energy work is the manipulation of the energy field. The practitioner helps to restore the flow of the field and to balance it out. Although considered alternative or complementary in nature, energy work such as Reiki or T’ai Chi is becoming more recognized in the mainstream and accepted as a viable form of healing.

Here are some guidelines in looking for a practitioner who performs energy work:

  1. Determine your boundaries and let the practitioner know before the session. Energy work can be done by touch or several inches away from the body. Communicate what is most comfortable for you.
  2. Ask the practitioner what a typical session consists of and what you can expect. If it does not meet your expectations, then find another practitioner.
  3. Know how much the session will cost up front. Some practitioners will donate their time or ask for a donation. Fees don’t necessarily reflect a practitioner’s capability or integrity. Remember that they are taking the time to help you; it is important that some form of payment, either monetarily or in kind, be given.
  4. The practitioner should be able to answer your questions to your satisfaction. This is a good time to tap into their philosophy and practice.
  5. The best practitioner is one that someone has recommended to you and has had a good experience. Don’t be afraid to ask for references from the practitioner from previous clients. Those that have had a dramatic result will be more than willing to share their experience with you.
  6. Is there a regulatory body for your prospective healer’s discipline? Chiropractors, massage therapists, psychologists, nurses, among others, have legislative and ethical standards that they must follow. A quick call or review on the internet may reveal of there has been some misconduct. Reiki or therapeutic touch practitioners do not have a monitoring agency.
  7. Truly look at why you wish to visit an energy healer. Is this the correct venue for what you want to accomplish? Be honest with yourself.
  8. Always trust your instincts. If something doesn’t seem or feel right, leave!
  9. The energy healer should always be honest and up front with you. If they do not know the answer, they should say so. Of course, they should follow up and find the answer and get back with you.
  10. The work with the healer should be confidential. There may be circumstances that render the practitioner obligated to inform the local authorities; these situations need to be discussed with the client.

Utilizing an energy healer can greatly enhance your well-being, in mind, body, and spirit. Using these simple guidelines can help you select the right healer for you and have a meaningful experience.
